Pure Brass South Indian Coffee Brewing Filter (Small, 2-3 cups) 150 ML Lower Container
The South Indian coffee filter, often referred to as a "drip filter" or "filter coffee maker," is a traditional and iconic apparatus used to brew coffee in South India, particularly in states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. It's known for producing a strong and flavorful coffee commonly enjoyed in the region.
This coffee filter is made of brass and has a distinct aesthetic appeal and is often associated with the authentic preparation of South Indian filter coffee.
The brass coffee filter consists of two main parts – the upper container and the lower container. Both containers are cylindrical in shape and are designed to stack on top of each other. The upper container has small perforations or tiny holes at the bottom. These holes allow hot water to slowly drip through the coffee grounds and extract the flavors. The lower container serves to collect the brewed coffee as it drips down from the upper container. The coffee filter come with a lid that fits onto the upper container. This lid helps maintain the temperature and prevent heat loss during the brewing process. Additionally, a pressing disc is included. It's a round disc with a handle that fits inside the upper container. Once the coffee grounds are added, this disc is used to gently compress the coffee, aiding in even extraction.
